We are very pleased to introduce our very first international art competition. Please find all the information you will need and we look forward to hearing from you using the enquiry button below should you have any queries.


Q. What is today's message in The Book of Daniel and The Book of Revelation expressed in the language of visual arts?


The Pécel Baptist Church (PBG) pecelibaptista.hu, in association with Art School Central (ASC) artschoolcentral.com, announces an invitation to submit creative visual artwork for the interpretation, presentation and illustration of The Book of Daniel and The Book of Revelation. We recommend that The Book of Daniel 

and The Book of Revelation are read together.

We plan to present the best works to the public in the form of an international travelling exhibition.


The deadline for submissions is 31 August 2024. The works that will be included in the exhibition will be announced by 31 January 2025. It is intended that the first exhibition starts in Easter 2025 in Budapest. The exact times and locations of the exhibitions will be published on our Facebook pages and websites in March 2025.

1. APPLICATION CATEGORIES

Applicants can submit work in the following art categories:

a) Drawing/graphics maximum size A2 (59,4cmx42cm). 

b) Painting/mixed media maximum size A2 (59,4cmx42cm). 

c) Sculpture maximum size 50cmx50cmx50cm.

d) Film (in MP4 format) with a maximum length of 5 minutes.

2. ENTRY AGE GROUPS 

The competition is open to individuals or collectives in the following are groups:

A) High school student aged 14-18

B) Young adults aged 19 to 24

C) Adult over 25 years of age

D) Professional Artist

3. JUDGING OF ENTRIES 

The organisers will award the best entries in each art category and age group separately. 

The works are judged by a professional panel for biblical authenticity, expressive originality, and artistic technical richness.  In addition to ASC and the cultural staff of the sponsoring organizations, the entries will also be judged by a panel of professional artists. Applicants will be notified of the panels’ final decision by email.

4. ENTRY CONDITIONS

By submitting their artwork, the applicant automatically accepts the terms and conditions of the invitation.

· There is no entry fee.  Each applicant or group may enter one entry per category only.

· ASC acquires the full and exclusive right to use the submitted digital copy of the winning artworks for non-profit purposes. We will seek the permission of the artist separately in order to publish the materials in a book format. The artist retains the right to sell or publish their own work. The applicant must keep their original artwork, their film in original full HD format, till the announcement of the awards and for the exhibitions.

· ASC will not be able to accept late or incomplete entries or work that is not submitted according to the submission’s technical requirements.

· The applicant undertakes that the submitted work was prepared for this competition and that it does not infringe the rights of another person. The applicant declares that no other person has any right to hinder or in any way restrict the acquisition rights by ASC in respect of the submitted work. In all cases the applicant or his/her representative bears full responsibility which the applicant assumes in the declaration in this competition. The applicant undertakes not to use any copyrighted elements in their entries.

· The applicant may only submit his/her own original work. In the event of a breach of this the submission will be void and the applicant will not be awarded a prize. If this becomes known later any claims against ASC that may be made by another person for copyright infringement shall be born by the applicant.

· ASC cannot evaluate a submission that does not meet the formal requirements. ASC reserves the right to declare the competition null and void if it does not find the quality of works received adequate.

5. FORMATTING REQUIREMENTS

2D artworks must not exceed the maximum of A2 (59,4cmx42cm) size. 3D work must not be larger than 50cmx50cmx50cm. The maximum length of the film is 5 minutes. The completed works should be sent to ASC by email. The photographed or scanned image should arrive in the best possible resolution (max 4MB) in JPG or PNG format. The sculpture should be represented with 3 well-lit photographs (max 9MB in total). The film should be compressed for the purposes of submission to a maximum of 50MB size file.

All submitted file-names must include the artists’ name, art category and age group. The work must be accompanied by an abstract (accompanying text) in PDF file, containing the bible passage/s interpreted or illustrated, the title of the work as well as a brief explanation of the work up to 150 words.

6. SUBMISSION OF APPLICATION

The application must be submitted electronically by the specified deadline. The submissions must arrive no later than 31st August 2024. In the ‘subject’ of the submission e-mail, please enter the title FUTURE PRESENT, the genre (sculpture, etc.) and the age group (student, etc.), e.g. "futurepresent sculpture student". Applications should be sent to the following e-mail address from 30th June 2024: jovojelen@artschoolcentral.com

 7. AWARDING THE SUBMISSIONS

The winning applicants will receive the following recognition: The creators of the most successful works will be rewarded by PBG and ASC with the right to participate in the traveling exhibition and their artwork be presented as illustration in non profit publications. In addition, based on the decision of the judging panels, our sponsors’ prizes will be awarded. Supporting organizations and individuals can also offer special prizes in recognition of exceptional insight or expressive power. The best of the submitted entries will be featured on the social media platforms of PBG, ASC and the supporting organizations.


8. ANNOUNCEMENT OF RESULTS

The announcement of results will take place digitally in January 2025.
